Andy Hunter

Andy Hunter was born in Northern Michigan, USA and grew up musically in Cleveland, Shanghai and New York City. He now lives primarily in Cologne and is employed as a trombonist with the WDR Bigband, whose music programs feature the top stars of today's jazz scene.
He has performed worldwide as a permanent member of the Mingus Big Band (Mingus Dynasty and Mingus Orchestra), the Richard Bona Group, the Toshiko Akiyoshi/Lew Tabackin Jazz Orchestra, SPOKE, T.S. Monk's 10-tet "Monk on Monk" and Cuban groups such as Ochún and La Típica Novel.
In addition to many CDs and tours, including sideman tours around the world, Andy Hunter has been a successful instructor at the Jazz Faculty of Tri-C College in Cleveland and Rutgers University in New Jersey. He also gives clinics and master classes around the world and teaches at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam.
